The Toxic Crusaders toyline, created by Playmates Toys in 1991, was based on the animated series of the same name, which in turn was a spinoff of the cult-classic Troma film “The Toxic Avenger.” Designed to appeal to fans of environmentally-themed superheroes, the toyline featured a variety of action figures, vehicles, and playsets, all depicting the quirky and grotesque mutants who fought pollution. Despite its short-lived run, the Toxic Crusaders toys became memorable for their vibrant designs and environmental messaging.
