When you think of fighting games, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and Tekken probably come to mind.
But there exists a lesser-known, culturally acclaimed series called Soul Calibur that we absolutely need to talk about. Originally launched as Soul Edge in arcades in 1995, Soulcalibur is a fighting game made by Namco which features a unique roster of characters based on 16th & 17th century history, all with heavily fleshed out backstories and fighting styles.
The series is one of the only fighting games to feature Ring-Outs as part of their playing strategy, which is when a player is forcibly removed from the playing area by their opponent, resulting in a win.
